Automakers Join in on April Fool's Day Fun

Welcome to April Fool's day. In correlation with Google's annual joke, a number of automakers decided to issue facetious press releases of their own to join in the fun.
Mini, for instance, announced a new paint technology that would allow drivers to change a car's color at a moment's notice. Available only on the Clubman, the "MINIMagic" system reportedly allows owners to change hues by wiping the vehicle down with a special applicator. Right...Infiniti's British press agency detailed yet another technology integrated into its latest vehicles. Based on the belief that it's dangerous to drive while hungry, the "Gastronomi" in-car hunger detection system supposedly notifies you when you've reached a critically high hunger level, and directs you to the nearest restaurant that fits your taste and budget.

Subaru, however, seems to have gone to the dogs. The automaker claimed it would soon launch a complimentary canine driving academy. Should your pooch not screw up and actually pass the first stage, a high-performance course -- which teaches "left paw braking" would also be available.

Suzuki, however, adopted the "rubbing is racing" mentality, and issued a fake release describing its plans on launching a Kizashi-styled "Car of Tomorrow" into the NASCAR circuit in 2011. The car would reportedly use a V-8 engine (crafted from two Hayabusa engine blocks), and none other than "Cole Trickle" would serve as crew chief.

On the racing front, the American Le Mans Series issued a statement saying the stainless-steel-clad DeLorean DMC-12 was now permitted to compete within the racing series. Power would, however, have to come from a flux capacitor, fueled by a Mr. Fusion home energy reactor. This modification would allow the DMC-12 to comply with the ALMS' green focus (it would be fueled on recyclables and trash), but would have to be limited to speeds below 88 mph.
