Power is up from 245bhp to 256bhp for a reduced 0-60mph sprint of 8.5 seconds (down from 8.8). Top speed remains unchanged at 124mph. But the engine tweaks, along with a new eight speed automatic ZF gearbox (which you’ll find in big Jags too), also mean an improvement in fuel economy, now 32.1mpg, up from 30.7mpg previously. At the same time, the Sport gets the rotary ‘Drive Select’ gearshift and steering wheel paddles seen elsewhere across the JLR model range.
Trim levels also move up a level too with colour changes to exterior detailing and new interior colours for the Autobiography Sport. A new powered single piece tailgate has also been introduced across the range for 2012, enabling drivers to set their desired lift height.
For the first time on the Range Rover Sport, the Dual View touch screen will be available, allowing the driver to view the satnav whilst the passenger watches TV or a DVD. Front and rear passengers also get WhiteFireTMwireless headphones technology so their entertainment doesn’t bother the driver. And with 825W of power pushing through 17 speakers on the Harmon Kardon LOGIC 7 sound system, bothered he might well be.
The awesome 5.0 litre Supercharged model gets the same tweaks — 510bhp V8 supercharged petrol engine apart, which remains unchanged.
The revised Range Rover Sport goes on sale in October as a 2012 model year car and will be priced from £48,795 on the road.
