World’s cheapest car Tata Nano officially launched in Mumbai

Yesterday Tata Motors unveiled the long waited Tata Nano, which is even cheaper than everyone expected. This little city car starts at 100,000 Indian Rupees (around 2,000 USD / 1,450 euros).

The Tata Nano comes with an all-new 2-cylinder aluminum 624 cc petrol engine with 33 horsepower mated to a four-speed gear box.

With a 33 horsepower engine we can’t really talk about performance numbers as there just are not any. According to Tata Motors top speed is 105 km/h (65 mph).

Even though it is the cheapest production car in the world customers can actually choose between three trim levels.

Base trim is as blank as it can get. No radio or air conditioning and just three colors to choose from. Second and third trim levels have more color choices and features such as front power windows, central locking, fog lamps… etc.

Tata Motors is now taking orders with first cars hitting showrooms from the beginning of April. First deliveries will begin in July
